Why we recommend more than the OSHA minimum: OSHA minimums assume a standard 8-hour shift with an average use frequency. In practice, factors like crew size fluctuations, subcontractor visits, health inspections, and the physical nature of construction work (which increases fluid intake and restroom usage) mean that slightly exceeding the minimum keeps conditions cleaner and reduces complaints.

Additional Construction Considerations

• Multiple work areas: If your job site spans a large area, place units at each active work zone rather than clustering them in one spot. Workers shouldn’t walk more than 5-10 minutes to reach a portable toilet.
• Peak workforce phases: Construction projects often have phases with higher crew counts (foundations, framing, finishing). Increase units during peak phases and reduce during quieter periods. We offer flexible month-to-month adjustments.
• Female workers: Sites with female workers should provide additional units with locks and increased privacy, as usage patterns differ.
• 10-hour shifts: For extended shifts, add 25% more units than the standard 8-hour calculation.

Detailed Event Guidelines

Weddings (100–250 guests)

• Ceremony only (1-2 hours): 2 standard units or 1 luxury trailer
• Ceremony + reception (4-6 hours): 3-4 standard units or 1-2 luxury trailers
• Full-day celebration (8+ hours): 5-6 standard units or 2 luxury trailers with mid-event servicing

For weddings, we strongly recommend luxury restroom trailers. They match the elegance of your event and provide amenities your guests appreciate — running water, mirrors, climate control, and premium interiors.

Corporate Events (50–500 guests)

• Company picnics: 1 unit per 50 guests
• Outdoor conferences: 1 unit per 40 guests (longer duration, more coffee = more restroom visits)
• Team building events: 1 unit per 60 guests for half-day events

Festivals and Concerts (500–5,000+ guests)

• 1 unit per 40-50 guests if alcohol is served
• 1 unit per 60-75 guests for non-alcohol events
• Add 20% more units near beer gardens and bar areas
• Plan for mid-event or daily servicing for multi-day festivals

Charity Runs and Sporting Events

• Place 2-4 units at the start/finish area
• Place 1-2 units at each mile marker or rest stop along the route
• 1 unit per 75-100 spectators in viewing areas

Special Considerations

ADA-Compliant Units

Include at least one ADA-compliant unit for every 10 standard units, or at least one per restroom cluster location. For public events, ADA compliance is a legal requirement, not optional.

Handwashing Stations

Add one handwashing station for every 4-6 portable toilets. Health departments require handwashing facilities near food service areas. Even where not required, handwashing stations significantly improve the user experience.

Gender Balance

Women use restroom facilities more frequently and for longer durations than men on average. For events with a balanced or majority-female audience, increase your total count by 15-20%.
